The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates – are becoming attractive destinations for many Polish entrepreneurs. Since 2011, the Polish export to the GCC countries has risen at an annual rate of 42 per cent, and in 2014 its value reached up to 6.5bn zlotys. Furthermore, motivated by economic diversification policies, a high purchase parity as well as stabile legislative system of the Gulf countries, many Polish entrepreneurs decided to invest in the region. Although the trend is still nascent, it is steadily growing. Therefore, it is essential to support the activities of Polish entrepreneurs and share experience as well as good practices.
The purpose of the project is to further develop and strengthen economic cooperation between Poland, the EU and the Gulf Cooperation Council Member States. The conference ‘Poland-EU-GCC Economic Forum’ is addressed to representatives of companies that intend to launch investment activities in the Gulf, as well as incumbents, non-governmental organizations which promote Polish economy abroad, and business organizations representing Polish entrepreneurs.
The Forum will be held on April 19th, 2016. The event is co-organized by the Polish Institute of International Affairs, the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency and the Polish Confederation Lewiatan under the patronage of the Polish Ministry of Development, the Representation of the European Commission, Polish Chamber of Commerce and the Trade and Investment Promotion Section of Embassy of Poland in Abu Dhabi.
The Poland-EU-GCC Economic Forum aims to:
- Spread practical information about characteristics of the GCC economies, especially about their legislative and cultural environment, as well as investment incentives available for Polish investors;
- Show the investment potential of the GCC economies by pointing to the high growth sectors
and assessing investment needs of particular countries;
- Create a platform for cooperation between entrepreneurs from Poland and GCC, as well as Polish, EU, and Gulf authorities.
